dhtmlxFolders can display various number of objects which have the same data structure. Thus, it can be used as a basis for file/image browsers, product catalogs, search engine results, or any kind of informational resources. Paging support allows displaying these objects one-by-one, portion by portion or all at once. The size of each object depends on the visualization template. So, this can be either icon with title under it or a complete web page.
Using different visualization templates combined with different paging settings, applied to the same data content (XML file), you can display items with different level of detalization. For example, you can switch from a simple list of images to image thumbnails or full-size image view, or from the list of products to product details pages, from the list of documents titles to the detailed list of documents, and to document complete view at the end - without any changes to the basic XML document with your data..
Built-in sorting and filtering capabilities make it easier to find the necessary item among the others, and provide ready-to-use file/image browser or internet product catalog/shop functionality. Such features as selection and drag-n-drop allow for easy and intuitive object reorganization. Besides, dhtmlxFolders provides the possibility of inline item editing.
Like other dhtmlx components, dhtmlxFolders is an Ajax component, and it provides complete Javascript API to give developers enough possibilities to control its state and behavior.
Since v2.0 all dhtmlx components, including dhtmlxFolders, introduce the possibility to be easily organized within a common application interface with the help of dhtmlxLayout.
